Moving Qt DevNet - Update
We sent out a message some days ago informing you that the Qt Developer Network will soon change domains and move in under the Qt Project. In case you missed it, here is the blog [bit.ly] Below is some additional information about what is going to happen. The Architect Version (tl;dr) All of Qt Developer Network will be read only while we move servers. We expect this to last approximately 3 hours. We will notify you of the exact time at least one day prior to the move. We will notify you again when we’re back. If you want to...
Qt Developer Network is moving to the Qt Project
Today we have important news for you: the Qt Developer Network is moving to the Qt Project. We want the Qt Project to become a strong, central home for Qt on the web – and having Qt Developer Network join it will help greatly with this. We gave ownership of DevNet to the community from the start and moving it under Open Governance is the natural next step. We are also convinced that it is important to keep Qt users and contributors together in one place and make sure everybody can find the information they need easily in one...
Qt 4.8 Docs now on Qt DevNet
We have been mirroring a stable version of the Qt 4.7 documentation on the Qt Developer Network for a while. Our elves (read: Gurudutt, Pål, Thorbjørn, Bjørn and Jone together with Gunder, our designer, and Martin and Casper from the Qt doc team) spend a lot of time and effort on polishing and ironing out quirks. Now we are confident the features are ready for prime time.
Qt Developer Network Forums are Buzzing
Get the pastries out, [developer.qt.nokia.com] we have reason to celebrate: the amount of posts on our forums has exceeded 50.000!
The Qt Documentation - Notably New Features
We were not joking when we announced on April 1st that Qt documentation would move in with us here on DevNet. People have been praising the extraordinary quality of our documentation for decades – precisely why we’re not even thinking of touching it. However, even great things can be improved with a bit of modern wizardry, and we saw potential for adding some neat Web 2.0 features. It’s time to present our Qt documentation integration efforts! [developer.qt.nokia.com] The official Qt documentation, including all previous...
Badges - First Steps on the Way to Real Reputation
Finally, it has arrived: our very own set of badges. Call it beta.
It’s Dugnad Time - the Qt eLearning videos have arrived
Norwegians have a great way of flocking together to get things done. Things that usually have not been touched for some time — like cleaning the stairs to the attic for example. It’s called dugnad [en.wikipedia.org] and at the end of the day, everyone gets soda and pizza or grilled sausages.
KDE Conference India - Mad Science
Guest blog – This post is contributed by chetankjain, [developer.qt.nokia.com] a Mad Scientist on Qt Developer Network. It is the first blog post to be contributed by a Qt DevNet community member. Over time we will invite more DevNet users to contribute as guest bloggers. (by Chetan K Jain) I recently attended conf.KDE.in [conf.kde.in] at the RV College of Engineering in Bangalore. It was the first KDE conference ever held in India, and it was followed up with two days of code sprints attended by over 300+ people. I’m pretty late...
Qt Documentation - Our New Roomie
Have you been wondering what we’re up to these days? We’re busy, trust us! We mentioned the reputation-framework more than once on the forums, and it’s coming soon, but there is another big project in the works that we haven’t advertised as boldly yet: the Qt Documentation will move in with us!
Did you know ...
Photo by Joe Goldberg. … that groups can display any RSS feed you choose in the activity stream? All you need to do is go to your groups’ settings tab and add the right URL. … that we now have guidelines for requesting groups and all things related to it? … that you can reach the team directly via qt-devnet (at) nokia (dot) com? … that we ask for feedback on design and related development in the Qt DevNet Meta group? … that you can search the network for content on your topic before starting a new...
Groups - the follow-up blog
The groups have been in the wild for a week now and we are pleased to see so many users poking around and creating or joining groups. I’d say the groups landing page looks well populated already. That’s great! Marius promised some background information about how it came to be in his last blog [developer.qt.nokia.com], so here it is.
Beta of the Groups feature is now live, looking for feedback
The previously grayed out “GROUPS” on the top menu is now active. Hiding behind that link is the main groups and people page where we list groups and most recently active members. We are setting up the first few groups now, together with the moderators. Alexandra will get back to why we have made a Groups feature and what we hope it will be used for.
